Okay so some might call me crazy, BUT... I'm offically back at it!
By offically, bookings are being taken for July/August, and sessions are also available now in the studio. (On location sessions are not generally available until further notice)

Firstly, these two were due around the same time as my ONE baby. And were born only 5 days before! (well done mum!) So here they are at 20 days old - I hope you enjoy your preview mum & dad!

I photographed this gorgeous little man on his 'birth'day and at one week old. And now, in preparation for his first birthday, here's Mr Harry Potter himself, with his own "sorting hat". (Mr Z was born on the day the final Harry Potter Novel was released and as a Harry Potter fan I had to make a big deal out of this!)

Autumn Maternities

Have I mentioned before that I love my work?
I think it's official - I'm a work-a-holic!
A few days after going on "Maternity leave" I'm back at it!
I cannot help myself! BUT - with 3 days until I'm due with my bun-in-the-oven, I have to say (my husband has put his foot down) I'm officially on Maternity leave to make a dent in the couch and knit! Inquiries are still invited for late June and July.

I met up with two beautiful mums-to-be this weekend:

J's Baby is due in 5 weeks

And S's baby in about 7.

I'm very spoilt, I will also be photographing both bubs when they are born!

Jaden Rice is 8 years old and about to embark on the trip of a lifetime!

To compete in the 2008 BMX World Championships in CHINA!

The Championships are to be held in Taiyuan from the 27 May - 2 June.

Maternity Leave

Ok the time had to come. I think physically it should have come weeks ago, but Gemma is officially on maternity leave. Well, that is to say I'm waiting on a few babies to be born then the camera will be coming out very quickly! No, I'm only having one, but have a few beautiful mama's due at the same time. I'm a work-a-holic, what can I say - I'll probably be heading from the hospital to a session!

So for now, my dedicated blog readers will get more insight into my family life - via the camera. On Friday, I took time out with my close photography pal {and business partner for the up and coming Le Elsker Wedding Photography} Janet, to do some shots of my belly. We had quite a few ideas, and one which I'd had since the moment I found out I was pregnant again.

The following may also showcase how we can creatively incorporate sentimental items into sessions to make them purely "you".

This will be part of a series, but you will have to wait for the rest of it ;)

Gemma's Maternity Session

There comes a time when us photographers call on other photographers to help us out.
Helps when your friends with a remarkable photographer such as Amanda Keeys.

Amanda has a beautiful family and last week I packed up my boys and flew to Sydney to spend some time with the Keey's.

Amanda and I (mainly Amanda I must say) bounced ideas off each other to have a Maternity session, a little different from the norm. I wanted something that reflected my past days working as a fairy in a gift shop (yes I used to wear wings and floral garlands!) and also my husband's alter-ego as a rockstar!

Amanda's visions were breathtaking and here are a few of her beautiful images:

Little Emmerson

Emmerson - 3 weeks old

This beautiful little girl has graced the Iris Creations blog no less that three times since her birth, and as you may remember underwent major surgery when she was just 15-weeks old. I photographed her just 5 days before her surgery and a couple of months after.
Recovering wonderfully, you would barely know she had such a major operation so early her life!

Emmerson and her story is featured in the Geelong newspaper this week, to help raise awareness to the Royal Children's Hospital's Good Friday Appeal. I urge everyone to follow THIS LINK to read about the courageous little girl!

This little one was such a good sleeper! The more curled up, the happier she was. I think she's also had a few cameras around her. She was rather good with hiding her face with her arms. I could almost hear her thoughts "Go away I'm sleeping!".

2008 is upon us . And to celebrate I wanted to hold a little contest!
Below are 16 of my favorite images from this year (one, however is not in the contest because it's my little boy - but had to put it in!)

I have been sitting at the computer for HOURS trying to cut the number down, and it's been extremely hard as I have photographed so many beautiful babies this year!
These images stand out for various different reasons, and have also been jointly selected by a fellow photographer!
If your baby isn't here, that does not mean anything! I guarantee it was in the shortlist!

So here's the details. There will be TWO prizes up for grabs,

After a stressful day with weather, and let me tell you - it was a TYPICAL Melbourne day (can you hear Crowded House singing?!)

BIG things have been happening at the HQ of Iris Creations Photography - more details to come!

But in the meantime I owe three families a sneak peak from their recent sessions.

Firstly, Little Z turned 1! I met her back when she was only a few months old, and here she was celebrating her first birthday!
A beautiful day was prepared, with balloons, presents and the most beautiful cake I've ever seen. Well done Mum, I think the 12 hours it took were worth it!

Next, I met this family via the Australian Breastfeeding Association. We spent a few hours together, and here are a few photographs from their session. Enjoy!

And finally, This week I traveled to Drouin in Gippsland (about 1 1/2 hours from Melbourne) to meet this family. What a beautiful place! Unlike Melbourne and many other parts of Australia, in Drouin, everything is GREEN!
Little Miss J is a 'sleepy baby' but I think we were very curious with what was going on!
But we did doze!
Everyone was fantastic models, I hope you enjoy your sneak peak!

Day Two -
A Baby in a Box, and a few more 'critters'. I am on a mission, as a child photographer, I am taking photos of my friends "children" for them..

Well, I am taking a much needed holiday until the 16th April. Most of that time will see us visiting the sunny land of Brisbane.

However, the camera is not getting the break and I am concentrating on photos of my #1 model, Emerson, and other creative adventures!

Just a few from the holiday so far, (I've been in Brisbane 36 hours!)

This is Wheels. He is one of the many animals in this house. Currently, there are 3 cats, a dog, 2 baby ring-tail possums, wheels, three rainbow parakeets, a kookaburra, a turtle, two HUGE fishtanks with freshwater and marine fish, 4 adults, a baby and a baby bat (yes a baby bat!). Talk about a full house! My darling friends are wildlife rescuers, and more than have their hands full with this lot!

I photographed Zara when she was six weeks old, and now here she is at six months! It's always exciting to go back to visit families and see how much their tiny baby has grown! Here's a sneak peek at our time together, enjoy!

This weekend we went to visit the Pell's. I decided it was about time I took some photos of the girls! I don't think they like the camera (haha) .. but I'll let you be the judge!

Fingers that taste like strawberries!

How cute is this beautiful little girl? At four and a half months old, she was a dream to photograph, and quite enjoyed the attention.. Watch out mum, you have a model on your hands!

Congratulations!

A very big congratulations to the beautiful Emma Ireland and her partner Amos on the birth of their baby - a boy!!
Born on the 23rd January at 1:42am, a healthy 7 pounds 5.
Both mum and bub are doing beautifully!

This week, I decided to concentrate on photographing my own baby! Who isn't a baby anymore, he's a toddler. Too much has happened this week for Emerson to be a baby. We got our first tooth, started crawling on our hands and knees, started clapping, and worked out that while in the 'walker' he can use his legs, and can travel around.. and fast.. and in every direction.

So I think it's official, I have a toddler.

So to celebrate all these new adventures, the camera came out .. ("again" everyone is thinking - yes I can hear you!)
